gash on his forehead.
He wasn’t moving and I thought he had passed away. Then he opened his eyes and I asked him where he felt pain and he said he thought he had broken his hip.
After getting him to the hospital I finally calmed down and pulled out my SkyMed card which I always carry and called and told them what had just happened. The X-rays revealed Allen had broken his right femur which required surgery to insert an 8” rod into the middle of the bone and screws to hold it in place. After surgery he was admitted to a nearby nursing rehab center as he was in no condition to travel and would need to have therapy three times a day to learn how to walk again.
Five weeks later Allen was released from the rehab center and SkyMed arranged his flight home to Texas via first class since his foot and leg had to remain elevated. SkyMed kept in touch with us and everything went along smoothly. Our son Richie drove our truck home to San Benito, Texas and our dog and I rode with him. SkyMed reimbursed us for miscellaneous expenses and paid Richie’s airfare so he could return home to Illinois.
How did you find out about SkyMed and why did you choose SkyMed? Allen and I manage two RV parks in the Rio Grande Valley near our home in San Benito, Texas and we heard Kay and Alan Oshel give SkyMed presentations at both parks in 2007. We knew then that it was just what we needed so we signed up in case we ever had a medical emergency.
What would you tell your friends about your experience with SkyMed?Purchasing SkyMed was the best investment we could have ever made and we can’t say enough good things about our experience. Their staff and representatives were very helpful and went above and beyond to provide our needs. We sometimes think nothing adverse will happen but when it did the good people at SkyMed took over and took care of everything and made our lives a whole lot easier. Considering this just happened a few months ago Allen is doing very well which reminds us how blessed are to have our SkyMed membership.
