by 9:00 am I was taken by ambulance to the Cozumel Medical Center.

When we got there the Medical Center wanted $25,000 up front and my wife gave them $5,000 using our credit card but the clinic said that was not enough. My wife then phoned my daughter and son-in-law and they came up with $15,000 and the clinic settled for $20,000.

At the time I booked the cruise, I had also purchased medical insurance through the cruise line, but my wife was unaware of this and the only card we had on hand was for SkyMed. At that point my son-in-law contacted SkyMed and spoke to Jim who told us he needed a doctor to accept me as a patient when I got to Vancouver. As soon as our doctor got in touch with Jim things really went into high gear.
