were hiking on solid ice. My crampons were not gripping properly and when I stepped down my foot slipped out from under me. I fell on my left side on the solid ice and all my weight landed on my left shoulder. When I heard something crack I knew something bad had happened.
A fellow hiker used his cell phone to call for help and the rescue team arrived 15-20 minutes later. They physically carried me to a rescue vehicle then drove me to the hospital emergency room. An MRI confirmed the left collarbone was badly broken and the consulting doctor said I needed to go back to Boston and see an orthopedist and my primary doctor. They put my arm in a sling, gave me pain medication and recommended we stay there for an extra day and to be still for 24 hours to allow time for the swelling to go down. I was in a ton of pain and needed to fly home in first class to make the trip more bearable. This was essential since I’m a large person with broad shoulders and could not have withstood the pain in an economy seat. We called Global ETS and they agreed that I needed to get home for treatment in the comfort and spaciousness of first class.
What would you tell your friends about your experience with Global ETS? My experience with Global ETS was quite satisfying from the moment I called them. Everyone was courteous and responsive from my first contact the member team. We recommend Global ETS to everyone without reservation and plan to continue doing business with them.
By the way, I recently went to the doctor for a checkup and although my collarbone looks different now it has completely healed. We’re really excited about that and have planned another trip to Iceland in October so we can try it again!
